MIRACLE OF ONLY

Mark 6:30-44

Let’s take a look of 3 important characters in the bible: the disciples, the boy and Jesus.
I. ACKNOWLEDGE THE PRESENT
                -- remote place
                -- very late
                --no food
                --no money to buy

Reaction towards the problem.
·         PROCASTINATE (V.35)
The disciples put off the problem until the end of the day. They did nothing and Jesus was waited on them.

·         PASS THE BUCKET (v. 36)
It’s not our problem. If they’re hungry, let them go find their own food.

·         WORRY (V38)
The disciples’ anxiety went into overdrive and they started worrying.
We pass on different consequence of life. It is a cycle. We will have situation and all we need is a solution.

Celebrate the past. Acknowledge the present. Prepare the future.

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.(Proverbs 6:9)

II. WILL YOU GIVE IT ALL?
·         He gave what he had
Never underestimate what God can do through ordinary people and limited resources given to him in faith. If you want to be used by God just get available.
Philip – the accountant
Andrew – the solution maker with “but”

·         He gave immediately
The boy didn’t hesitate. As soon as it Jesus needed it, the boy gave it to it Him

III. The ONLY Word that Jesus Doesn’t Understand
ONLY WORD JESUS DOESN’T UNDERSTAND IS: ONLY! The disciples said, “We have here ONLY five loaves and two fishes.” Jesus didn’t even consider the word “only,” He said, “It’s enough!”
The disciples were thinking in human terms of a logical manner to meet the masses’ hunger, not thinking in supernatural terms, of a MIRACLE of GOD to meet the needs of the masses!”
The disciples thought their problem was a lack of food, but Jesus saw that the bigger problem was a lack of faith.
Jesus asks us to sometimes do the impossible also. He’s doing it to test our faith. When I was in college, I had a professor who often started class by announcing, “Everyone clear off your desk except for one blank sheet of paper.” We all knew he was about to give one of his infamous pop quizzes. Sometimes I was prepared and sometimes I wasn’t.

Jesus does the same thing today. When you face the very hardest times of your lives, it’s like God is saying, “Take out a blank sheet of paper.” The only question on God’s test is: Do you trust me? Your answer is not for His information; it is to show you how much faith you really have. Your faith will be tested continually throughout your life, not to shame you, but to strengthen you. In James 1:2-3 we read: “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know the testing of your faith develops perseverance.” Once you realize problems are God’s pop quizzes, it makes it easier to say, “Oh boy! Another test!” When you encounter a problem that involves a shortage, there are three different approaches you can take.

Some people are “feelers.” They address problems with their emotions: You can recognize them because they use this phrase: “I just feel that...” The disciples looked around and saw the mob and they felt panic because the day was getting late and there was no food. Anytime you approach a problem with feelings you are in danger of making a huge mistake. Their “feelings” said, “Send these folks away.” I’ve had people tell me they made major decisions just because, “I felt it was the right thing to do.” That’s a pretty scary way to make decisions because your feelings can be misleading.

Other people are “figurers.” They address problems with their minds. You can recognize them because they often make remarks like, “I think...” These are the calculators, the analyzers. In the account of this miracle in John’s gospel, we are told Phillip made this statement about feeding the crowd: “Lord, a year’s wages would not be enough to buy everyone a single bite.” I think Phillip was the CPA of the disciples. Can’t you see him as he whips out his handheld iAbacus? He says, “Let’s see, 15,000 people at $2 a meal, divided by a month’s wages... ” He had it all figured out, but God’s math is different than ours. When we pass out food we divide it, but when Jesus passes out food He multiplies it! Human math says, “Five loaves and two fish divided by 15,000 = IMPOSSIBLE. God’s math says, “Five loaves plus two fish times the power of God = 15,000 full stomachs. To all the figure-ers, God says, “Your calculation is correct, but you fail the test.”

CONCLUSION:
The disciples said, “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish.” Jesus said, “Bring them here to me.” They used the “only” word, but Jesus acted like He didn’t even understand it. He said, “Your only is enough for me to make plenty.”
There are “feelers” and “figurers” but the third way to face a shortage is to be a “faither.” A feeler says, “I feel…” A figure-er says, “I think…” But you can recognize a faither a smile away because they say things like: “I believe that God is able…” There was at least one faither in the crowd that day. John tells us Andrew brought a little boy to Jesus who had five loaves and two fish. I like Andrew because he was always bringing people to Jesus. This little unnamed lad “only” had five little buns and two small fish like sardines. You could call it an Israeli Happy Meal. But he had faith in Jesus because he surrendered all he had. He didn’t know what would happen; he just decided to trust Jesus with his food. That’s what faith is. You don’t know exactly what will happen, but you are still willing to trust God. I would have loved to have seen the look in the little boy’s eyes as he watched Jesus supersize that happy meal!

Jesus multiplied “only” that tiny meal until everyone was fed. Not only was there enough for five thousand men, plus all the women and children, there were leftovers! It’s God’s nature to always give more than enough. One of my favorite Bible promises says, “Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us …” (Ephesians 3:20 NKJV)
God is asking you the same thing today. What’s that in your hand? You say, “It’s only my job.” God says, “Lay it down before me.” “It’s only my bank account.” God says, “Lay it down before me.” It’s only my family.” “Lay it down before me.” “It’s only my meager abilities.” “Only? I don’t understand that word. Lay it down.”

“The Little Word ‘Only’”

I considered my little and God said to me,
“Child, what do you mean by saying, ‘only?’”
It was only a word that created all that you see;
It was only some clay that brought you to be.
Only a staff that parted the sea;
Only one man who set them all free.
Only a young shepherd who took down a foe;
And there’s a lesson to learn that I want you to know:
It was only a stable, and only a girl;
And only a Carpenter who changed the whole world.
So it’s not what YOU have, but MY strength, you see;
And I can do miracles with your little ‘only!’”

God has been performing miracles with “onlys” for centuries. Adam was only a pile of clay. Goliath and the Philistines looked at David and said, “He’s only a boy with only a slingshot.” They said Mary was “only” an unwed teenage mother. They said that Jesus was “only” a carpenter. Just think about what God can do with your “only” if you’ll offer it to Him.

BIBLE READING -- ISAIAH 29-33

ISAIAH 29 - THE CAUSE AND CURE OF SPIRITUAL BLINDNESS

Drug yourselves so you feel nothing.
Blind yourselves so you see nothing.
Get drunk, but not on wine.
Black out, but not from whiskey.
For God has rocked you into a deep, deep sleep,
put the discerning prophets to sleep,
put the farsighted seers to sleep. (Isa. 29: 9-10)

  • Spiritual blindness is caused by pride.
  • Spiritual blindness will bring us low.
  • Spiritual blindness leads to spiritual drunkenness.
  • Spiritual blindness leads to spiritual sleep.
  • Spiritual blindness leads to spiritual illiteracy.
  • Spiritual blindness causes hypocrisy.
  • Spiritual blindness makes men believe God cannot know what they think or see what they do.
  • Spiritual blindness makes men deny God as Creator.
  • Spiritual blindness is cured through humility.
  • Spiritual blindness can only be healed through the LORD’s restoration.

ON MY WAY

Never ending trains and busses
Tired legs and feet bruises
Empty cold coffee cup
And wrinkled pages of map

I am far away from where I’ve known
Always trying to get out of my comfort zone
This winding road that I’ve been acquaint
Will this way make me, sinner or saint?

As I close my eyes and free my mind
I see your smile so kind
Your arms stretched to embrace me
Just don’t give up on me

But I am on my way, just wait
It might seems this is out of sight
And I know I will be alright
Just hold on and keep tight

BIBLE READING -- JOB 11-12

Listen! God is doubtless punishing you    far less than you deserve! (Job 11:6)

I am fascinated in the Book of Job, the debate, the reasoning, the true meaning and true lesson. What will I learn in the Book of Job? It is mere suffering.
Job lost everything, literally, family and livelihood. His three friends were the only person left to encourage and help him but instead he was mock and drag him to confess that he sinned that's why things aren't going well. God didn't give troubles and problems because of the sin that we did yesterday, last night or just few hours ago. We are love before we are born, we are forgiven before we ask for it. When we accept Jesus, He doesn't promise a bed of roses. When we decide to follow Him and serve Him inside the church, He didn't promise that will not experience problems. And christians, inside the church, we they heard of bad things happenning with their brothers and sisters, first question, is he still going to the church? Going to the church or having ministry is not a ticket to exempt us in having trials.

These trials are only to test your faith, to show that it is strong and pure. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold -- and your faith is far more precious to God than mere gold. So if your faith remains strong after being tried by fiery trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. (1 Peter 1:7 NLT)

BIBLE READING -- PSALM 15-17

I’m happy from the inside out,    and from the outside in, I’m firmly formed. (Psalm 16:9, MSG)

They said happiness is a choice. It's a everyday decision. Also, happiness comes from happenings. It's dependent on what's going on around you. I think this is all true. Everyday we make decision, from what to wear up to what to eat. And it is important to include happiness in our decision-making. You have to make decision, you have to make your own choice. And yes, If you make a choice of being happy no matter the circumstances, let me tell this call for a celebration. Not everybody has the guts to celebrate and be merry and this is a big step.

My mind is always occupied in minding things, well I think that's her job, but the more I think things happiness is backing away until I can no longer reach it. And this affects my physical appearance. The most obvious one, I begun to loose weight. It's true try to be happy inside and it will show outside.

I thank God for the part-time work.

Fear not

Job 05:22-23
You will laugh when things are being destroyed. You will enjoy life even when there isn’t enough food. You won’t be afraid of wild animals. You will make a covenant with the stones in the fields. They won’t keep your crops from growing. Even wild animals will be at peace with you.
Job 05:22-23 (NIrV)
Biblical Truth: Though we may stumble we need not be afraid, for we have a peace that allows us to be encouraged by the power and greatness of God, even during trials.

Keep Calm and Pray

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)

Worry is a part of human nature ever since human understands the concept of "wants" and "needs". . If you don't get worried, it doesn't mean that you are holy and closer to God and those who gets worried will be burn forever in hell. No! Worrying is a tool for us to be firm on what we believe in. When we accept that we are worried and surrender it everything to the Lord, that's where the Lord starts to move in our lives. Worry will be here and forvere will be a door away from us. It reminds us that we are still human and often than not human-nature strikes more than you expect. And to learn to accept the consequences of our decisions will give us peace is more important.

I think that everybody made a wrong or bad decision. Everybody does. And sometimes people are afraid to make a decision because it might turn out wrong and society will mock and despise them. NOT MAKING A DECISON IS A WORST DECISION OF ALL.

I am in the middle of "I-need-to-make-decision-NOW" moment and still I havent heard anything from the Lord. I know He will not show in burning bushes and talk to me and tell me to go right instead of left but I need a confirmation and I am so scared to make any decision. It affects everything, my performance in school and ministry, personal life and I loose weight. Then, I just realized that the decision is mine. The Lord gives the desire of my heart, a decision to make. What's in it? My truly heartbeat. And yes, I am afraid to take one of it because I know eyes are on me. What should I do? What are the effects of my wrong or bad decsion? One word: PEACE. No matter what my decision will take me. I will pray for it and have peace on it. What's important right now is to give thanks on everything and have true peace on heart.

I thank God for 30+ hours safe travelling. I thank God for my family. I love them so much! I thank God for my friends, who never stops praying and trying to understand my frickle-minded attitude. I thank God for Denmark, my second home. And I thank God for the wonderful and adventurous life that I have right now. Lord, you know my heartbeat..:)
