WELCOME 2010! YEAR OF POSSESSION!

January 2, 2010

Every year, I always ask God’s word and promise for this year and this will be my guide and I will hold on into it. And to my surprise, He gave a powerful promise:

May God pass on to you and your descendants the blessings he promised to Abraham. May you own this land where you are now living as a foreigner, for God gave this land to Abraham. (Genesis 28:4 NLT)

Yes, conquering the land where I am living now as a foreigner! How to do it and Where will I start?? I really don’t know. I keep my faith that everything is possible to Him and I know He will fulfill this promise in His own time.

This gives me inspiration to go on and dream again. And for this year, these are my goals with prayer, I hope I can fulfill it.

1. To have work permit or student permit in Denmark. This is my ultimate goal right now. I don’t want to be an au pair forever and I really wanted to start my new career by studying or working. I am starting now to find alternative options to stay longer here. I want to stay here for more 2 or 3 years.

2. To visit Paris. I hope this summer I can visit Paris now and if most likely with side-trip again and this time in Germany.

3. Visit 2 more countries. Again, I don’t want to end this year without visiting more countries and probably in Spain, Italy, Norway or Switzerland. Anything goes and anything can happen.

4. To have a birthday bash! This will be my first time to celebrate my birthday away from my family and outside of the country and I pray that God will give a memorable birthday celebration.

5. To finish my Danish Language until Module III. I am now in Module II and I am determined to finish it until Module III.

6. To find new family. Also, this year, my contract will end in November and I pray that I can find family to live-in probably in Norway if I can’t have working or student visa.

7. Christmas vacation in the Philippines. I am excited to have vacation in the Philippines. Even though, it is 2-weeks vacation only, I’ll spend it wisely with my family.

I will possess this land, this is my desire. May God grant the desire of my heart.

YEAR END SPECIAL Part 2

In the mid of the year, I listed down things that I want to accomplish this year. And here it was:

1. To visit Paris, esp. the Eiffel tower. Of course, this is my dream. If I have a chance to visit this early, this year will be the most memorable year in my life.
– I was not able to visit Paris, maybe it’s too early for me to have vacation.

2. To see another country. Two hits in one bullet. (why not??), maybe in Belgium or Netherlands.
-- It is Netherlands and Belgium. Yes, two hits in a row!

3. Start and Finish Danish language. I’ll start at August 10 and end at November. After that I don’t know if I need to proceed to Module II or can I start a certificate now. It depends on the results of my language proficiency.
-- I am now in Module II. And I pray to start my certificate this year.

4. Have a white Christmas. Definitely, I will have but I don’t know yet if I’ll celebrate here in Denmark or with some friends.
-- Yes, I have White Christmas and I celebrated it with my family here and with my friends

5. Have a blast and blessed New Year. I wonder how they celebrate New Year here. This is one of my favorite seasons and I want to know if I’ll enjoy the celebration here.
-- Well, because I came early in the morning from Amsterdam and need to work in the morning. I felt sleepy and tired but over-all I enjoyed their celebration here.

6. Meet new friends. I mean, foreign friends. This is to understand better the culture not only Danish culture but other culture. I hope and I pray that I can meet new friends to expand my contacts here.
--- I have new friends and new family.

7. To find a church. I am dying to attend a service here. Almost one month since my last service and as servant who is working for almost half her life. It is really difficult for me to just let go of Sundays with fellowship. I am really bless right now cos I receive a message that they will have Bible Study near in the place tomorrow and I am invited. God answered my prayers.
--- I am now helping them in their website. I had an article for their Christmas Party.

YEAR-END SPECIAL

For the past 4 years, nakaugalian ko ng mg-out of town tuwing matatapos ang taon. Kung hindi ako nagkakamali, I've been to Vigan, Mindoro and most of the time sa Prayer mountain in Antipolo. Now that the year is ending, I'm going to Amsterdam. And as always, I have this sad feeling. Why? I really dont know. I should be happy and I will be hence it's my choice.

Masaya, malungkot at disppointed.

Ibigay lahat sa Kanya at sabhin na lng “Thy will be done”.

My prayer will be: May I found peace, happiness and contentment and May I live according to His will (Masyado ng matigas ang ulo ko baka wala ng next time)

12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

Dec. 17, 2009 -- 8 Days before Christmas

As I woke up this morning, I can’t believe what I saw. All white! Pure white! The beautiful sight was appreciated as the sun rises at 8am. But snow also brings annoyance in some people because the need to plow their way in the cold morning to get outside and that’s what Frederick did. He has no choice otherwise he will wait the city hall plow’s truck to get rid all the snow.

All white and pure

Frederick, taking rid of snow in the cars..

The snow was one foot high so it was so nice to dip in and let the feet and hands feel the snow. At 10:30am, Marius and I went outside to play but we didn’t take long because it was really cold and I can’t bear it. As of now, it is really cold, it’s -4 degrees! I am still amazed by the wonders of nature. The difference between m country and here. All I can say is: I am amazed by the Your works of Your hands…

12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

Dec. 15, 2009 -- 10 Days before Christmas

Three things happened this day:

Wish you all the best! And may God grant the desire of your heart!

2. Let it snow..let it snow..let it snow! – This is not my first time, pero ito ata un pinakamatagal at pinakamatagal. Fulfilling and happy. This was my dream before, to experience snow. Ang masasabi ko lang more! More! More! Hehehehe
3. Christmas Party in school – Nakakaloka! Hindi ko alam kung ano dadalin ko. Hindi ako makapagluto (as if naman na nagluluto ako) Kaya, instant! Microwave hot wings! Pacencya na..hehehhe..On my way to school, nagssnow pa din. Ang sarap na feeling para akong nas pelikula or kinukunan ng music video naglalakad under the snow!

Infairness, masarap ang food. May CPA (ngyon ko lng nalaman to, chicken, pork adobo) bistek, spring roll, fruits, cheesecake at ang pinagmamalaki kong hot wings! Another year for school. Though hindi formal school. I appreciate what I’ve learned.

Christmas in Denmark
Denmark has adopted and expanded the German tradition of Advent calendars. It is common to have Julekalender (Christmas calendars) that mark all days from December 1 until December 24. They are often made of cardboard with pictures or treats such as chocolate. They come in various forms whether home-made to or manufactured and can contain innocent stories of Christmas or might even be scratchcards. Also, Advent candle with numbers from 1-25 and they have to light it everyday according to numbers.

12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

Dec. 14, 2009 -- 11 Days before Christmas

I watched Schindler’s List and until now, scenes and the story still linger on my mind. I can’t imagine the Holocaust that happened. More than 11 million Jews died. Why? Because the are Jews, they are merely Jews. This was happened during the World War II under Adolf Hitler. It was a barbaric way of killing people and the reason is none sense. I was thinking, why God allowed these things to happened, not only to the Jew but to the other Christian. Why there’s someone to suffer to glorify His name? Why things need to happen just to see the goodness of His works? Well, human cant fathom the depth of His love. It boils down to the principles: Everything has purpose and He has his own way of telling things. But whatever it is, I still believe that Jews are the chosen people of God and I still have respect to them.

12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

Dec. 13, 2009 -- 12 Days before Christmas

The countdown begins! Surely we can’t stop the Christmas. It’s really coming!

At last! I feel the Christmas is really coming!

Gifts for my friends..

As I was walking on my way home, I thought it’s raining then suddenly I realized it is snow! Ice cream??) But this is not my first snow. I experience it last November but this is the first time that I am outside and walking.

Melting snow in my hand

This is my first time to celebrate Christmas and I learned some of their traditions. I will share it every post here.

Jul, the Danish Christmas, is celebrated throughout December starting either at the beginning of Advent or on December 1 with a variety of traditions. Christmas Eve, Juleaften,, the main event of Christmas, is celebrated on December 24.Every September until Christmas, Carlsbergis releasing a Juleøl as a sign that Christmas season is coming.
